WordPress Plugin -> Plugin Manager - Released

After working on this for nearly 2 weeks, I’ve finally made my first ever WordPress plugin “Plugin Manager“.

It is a fairly simple one, and lets you download and activate WordPress Plugins with a single click of the mouse from an AJAX’ed interface, saving your valuable time.

You can check out more information about it and download the plugin from here.

Hullo!. Great idea for a plugin but i cant quite get it to work.

I have installed it and activated it but I cannot see any plugins listed in the selection space. However the toolbar at the bottom does say that it is “Displaying 1 to 20 of 2140 items.

Any ideas?

I am using Firefox 3 on a PC if that helps.

admin August 24th, 2008 at 5:29 pm

Hi Decoder,
Can you try it once on IE and check if it works?
I myself use Firefox 3, and its working great.

Hey! Thanks for the plugin!

tmcg August 24th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

I’m getting the same issue on FF3 but on IE7 the list displays, it’s all WP plugins ? not just the ones on that blog ?

The next/previous buttons on IE7 are blank as well

Thanks for the effort though

admin August 24th, 2008 at 9:46 pm

Hi TMCG,
I’m working on the Firefox 3 issue (still cant find any reason; works fine here).
Yes it’s all the plugins, and thats what makes the plugin more useful than the inbuilt Plugin management.

Yes, I am having the same issue on FF3 here too. Cannot see the plugins in FF3, but it works fine in IE7.

That sucks because I’ve set my system up so that the only way to get to IE7 is click on Start, Run, and type “iexplore”. I hate using IE!

Pranav August 24th, 2008 at 10:06 pm

The plugin works like charm. :D In both FF3 and IE7. :D

Cool plugin! Keep it up. :)

Ankit August 24th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Used it and its working great !!
I’m using it on FF3 !! Ru guys sure its not the issue with your browser ??

Also, the plugin will not work and will generate fatal error before downloading if u have Auto Upgrade Plugin installed.

Akshay August 25th, 2008 at 3:30 pm

It is working in Opera 9.5

cool plugin

admin August 25th, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Well, the script looks to be working for some the people, and not working some in Firefox 3.
I’m trying to anything in the code which could be causing it, and will update soon.

@Swaroop
Thanks.

@Decoder
Just mail me using the contact form if you find solution to any bug ;)

@Pulsindo
I think it is because of some CHMOD problem.
Are you on Windows or Linux?

I have two WP blogs for myself, and have installed some for our clients. Simple to use, easy enough to modify, definitely a great product. Good Plugins!

I have tried the last couple of versions and still nothing gets displayed in either firefox 3 or opera, displays in IE, but doesn’t work, says its downloading then activate button woks, but nothing gets installed.

Brad Nickel October 19th, 2008 at 7:48 pm

I sent you a message via contact form a few weeks ago, but didn’t hear back. I can see the list of plugins. When I click download, I get an error message and html code in the download button. Then I click activate adn it shows the smiley face, but I never see the plugin installed in my list of plugins.

Lenon October 25th, 2008 at 6:09 pm

I really enjoyed the plugin, was one of the features that I like to have on my panel of Wordpress.

Thank you. :D

bug: doesnt work with FF3/Safari and OSX but works with windows and IE

Leokid October 26th, 2008 at 1:14 am

Hye!

I’m using FF 3.1b1, and currently having the same problem. The list is empty, with the statusbar showing “Displaying 1 to 20 of 2948 items”.

Should the bug is fixed, please notify me with the email provided, or just simply leave a message at the shoutbox on my site.

Much appreciated!

thomas hourican October 27th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Is this plugin still being supported?

I’m still getting the empty window error and have the following errors in my error console on loading. FF3 Win XP.

Warning: Selector expected. Ruleset ignored due to bad selector.
Source File: http://hourican.net/wordpress/wp-admin/admin.php?page=plugin-manager/plugin-manager.php
Line: 382

and

Warning: Unexpected end of file while searching for closing } of invalid rule set.

Any ideas?

I swear this was working in FF3 when I installed it this weekend, but it is not working now (on three different computers on two different networks). I can get it working in FF3 by using the FF3 IETab plugin. It’s a great plugin, hope the native FF3 problem gets fixed.

Bobulon October 30th, 2008 at 4:22 am

Hi, I am using FF3.03 and getting no result. Just “Processing please wait” and a blank list.

Emiliano November 2nd, 2008 at 1:36 pm

Same problem here, working just on IE7 and not working in FF2 (version 2.0.0.17) nor FF3.
Anyway big thanks for the plugin: it’s one of the most useful so that became an absolute necessity for me and for all friends I’v been reccomending to!

Hi Utkarsh,
IE7 OK, no luck with FF3. I noticed something about “gears” in the code. Not Google Gears, right?

On page load, FF Error Console says:
Error: element.dispatchEvent is not a function
Source File: http://www.ronitbaras.com/wp-includes/js/prototype.js?ver=1.6
Line: 3936
- and -
Error: jQuery(”#media-buttons a”).tTips is not a function

Line: 45

Over to you, boss.

No luck getting it to work on Safari or FF Mac

Sidney November 17th, 2008 at 5:58 am

I too am having issues with this plugin and Firefox, but I am running Firefox on Ubuntu, so I can’t test IE. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Josh November 17th, 2008 at 10:13 am

Excellent plugin, works great.

I’d love to see a ‘Theme Manager’ which does basically the same thing, but allows you to preview and automagically download new themes.

Felipe Ferreira November 27th, 2008 at 1:37 am

For me it didnt work in FF3 or IE6
Just “Processing please wait” and a blank list.
Does it require java or flash?
cheers,

Any update on the FF3 fix? I’ve got OSX, so IE is out.

notgood December 2nd, 2008 at 7:35 pm

:| am after 3 hours to find a fix on the .tTips bug, and unsuccessfully, it just doesn’t help, haven’t enybody fixed it yet?…

DAKPluto December 7th, 2008 at 8:38 pm

Not working for me in FF3 either, but I’m getting a different error than the others. I get the list just fine. If I click the download button the box just changes to Fatal Errors and the active button goes white. It is not downloading the update.

Same results in IE. Yes, my plugins folder is chmod 777.

Josh December 21st, 2008 at 7:20 am

Still anxiously waiting for a fix/update/patch to fix this to work with all FF3 installations. I saw a update was released recently, but the problem seems to persist.

Josh December 21st, 2008 at 10:28 am

Must be a plugin incompatibility. I disabled all plugins and it began to work!

Then I started adding them back one by one, until I it stopped. For me the ‘flexible upload’ plugin was the culprit.

What it is in this plugin that causes the problem, I am not sure though.
